Electricity demand fully met on January 7th, says Energocom
The electricity demand will be fully met on Tuesday, January 7th.
On Old Christmas Day, the total electricity consumption on the right bank of the Dniester River will be 17% lower than on Monday, January 6th. As a result, less electricity will need to be imported, Energocom announced.
The company confirmed that the necessary capacity reserves have been arranged at the Romanian border to purchase contracted electricity or that available on the market.
Therefore, on January 7th, the electricity demand will be met by thermal power plants in Chișinău and Bălți, local renewable energy facilities, and imported energy.
According to the Government’s crisis unit, around 50% of the electricity supplied this weekend was imported from Romania. The remaining 50% of electricity consumption was supplied from the following sources:
- JSC "Termoelectrica" – 32.35%
- JSC "CET-Nord" – 5.12%
- State Enterprise "NHE Costești" – 1.21%
- Renewable energy – 11.83%
