Government Backed: Major Investment in Residential Energy Efficiency
Over the next three years, authorities plan to allocate approximately 690 million lei from the state budget to enhance the energy efficiency of both apartment buildings and individual homes.
Ion Muntean, the director of the Energy Efficiency Agency, conveyed on Radio Moldova that these funds could potentially double with the support of development partners.
Muntean stated that renovations undertaken within the program's initial phase would yield energy savings of up to 40%. He further explained that 75% of the financial resources in this phase are designated for the multi-storey residential sector, encompassing buildings managed by condominium associations and those constructed before 2005. These buildings are identified as the primary beneficiaries. Additionally, over 25% of the resources are allocated to individual household units initially, with the possibility of this proportion increasing should certain development partners express interest in individual houses.
It's noteworthy that this week, the Government approved the Financing Program of the Energy Efficiency Fund in the Residential Sector for 2024-2027. Consequently, tenants will contribute 30 percent of these investments. Approximately 1.5 billion lei is required for the implementation of the Program over the next three years.
