Mureșan about the importance of participating in the European Parliament elections in June: "It will be an additional obligation for the EU to help the Republic of Moldova"
The European Parliament elections from June 6-9 are a mini-referendum on European integration for the Republic of Moldova. The participation of a larger number of voters from the Republic of Moldova, who also have Romanian citizenship, will be a very big signal given to the European institutions, said the MEP Siegfried Mureșan in the show "La 360 de grade" on Radio Moldova.

"If people go to the polls in the Republic of Moldova in large numbers and vote pro-European, this will be an additional obligation for the European Union to help the Republic of Moldova as much and as quickly as possible", said Mureșan, deputy chairperson of the European People Party (EPP).
The MEP is confident that a larger number of Moldovans with Romanian citizenship will participate in the upcoming elections for the European Parliament.
"I am confident that the pro-European majority that exists now in the European Parliament will also exist after the elections on June 9. And this majority will continue to make decisions in favor of the Republic of Moldova. If the number of participants is high, it is an extra chance for the accession negotiations to start immediately in June", declared the MEP of the National Liberal Party and candidate for the elections, Siegfried Mureșan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest announced that for the European Parliament elections, it will open 52 polling stations in the Republic of Moldova, by 16 more than in the previous election in 2019, in which about 38 thousand Moldovans with Romanian citizenship participated.
Last year, three hundred thousand Moldovans held Romanian citizenship. The participation of Romanian citizens from the Republic of Moldova in the European Parliament elections is important so that in the future European Legislative there will be as many deputies as possible who support the European path of the Republic of Moldova, said Adrian Dupu, the Secretary of State of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova from Bucharest.
