This announcement comes from the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun, who specified that the monitoring effort will be targeted at districts where there are significant discrepancies in student performance between the 9th and 12th grade graduation exams.

Data revealed that in some of these districts, roughly 20% of 9th graders received grades of nine or ten in their gymnasium graduation exams. However, none of these students achieved similar results in the subsequent baccalaureate exam. In response to this concerning trend, Minister Perciun emphasised the importance of ensuring objective assessments of student efforts and knowledge. He highlighted the critical responsibility of the education system to guarantee such objectivity.

The initiative to monitor graduation exams is part of the National Volunteer Recruitment Campaign, titled "Be HONEST, Don't Copy!" This campaign is co-funded by the European Union and implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ).
