Ukraine War, Refugees Top Agenda at PACE Meeting
A Moldovan parliamentary delegation is set to attend the summer session of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), which commences on Monday, June 24 in Strasbourg.
During this session, participants will elect the new Secretary General of the Council of Europe for the upcoming five years.
The agenda features discussions on the repercussions of the war in Ukraine, particularly regarding legal ramifications and human rights concerns, as well as the efficacy of the implemented sanctions. Another key topic on the agenda is Russia's aggression against Ukraine, with a focus on identifying solutions and providing support for Ukrainian refugees. Additionally, there is a request for an urgent debate on the challenges threatening Georgian democracy.
The Moldovan parliamentary delegation will be led by MP Ion Groza. The delegation also includes MPs Natalia Davidovici and Andrian Cheptonar from the "Action and Solidarity Party" faction, alongside MPs Vlad Batrîncea and Adela Răileanu from the Communists and Socialists Bloc faction.
The Republic of Moldova has been a member of the Council of Europe since 1995.
