Teacher Shortage Solution? Moldova Launches Hiring & Support Program
In an effort to address staffing shortages in the education sector, the Moldovan Ministry of Education and Research has launched a new initiative aimed at attracting recent education graduates.
Key Highlights of the Program:
- Increased Hiring: Starting this September 1st, 360 education graduates will be hired by schools across the country. These positions were selected from a pool of over 480 applications submitted during a recent ministry campaign.
- Reduced Workload: To ease the transition into their new roles, new teachers will benefit from a reduced workload (75%) for the first five years. This initiative aims to provide them with dedicated time for lesson planning, professional development, and student support.
- Financial Support: The program offers additional financial incentives for educators willing to work in rural areas or smaller towns. These teachers will receive an annual stipend of 4,000 lei to purchase teaching supplies and support to cover housing rental costs and utility bills.
- Mentorship Program: New teachers will also enjoy 62 days of vacation and mentorship from experienced teachers for the first five years. This mentorship program will provide them with guidance and support as they navigate the challenges and rewards of their chosen profession.
This initiative represents a significant investment by the Romanian government in strengthening its education system. By offering competitive benefits and targeted support, the program aims to attract and retain a new generation of talented educators.
