Mihai Popșoi will participate in a series of events within the NATO Summit in Washington

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, will participate in a series of related events on the sidelines of the NATO Summit that will take place between July 9-11 in Washington. A statement in this sense was made by the deputy prime minister in the show "La 360 de grade" on Radio Moldova. According to him, Chisinau hopes that the Republic of Moldova and NATO will maintain their good cooperative relations.

"I will participate in a series of events to strengthen relations with our partners and contribute to the resilience of our state when it comes to combating disinformation, strengthening capabilities in the cyber field. There will be a series of events related to this summit, where representatives of the states that are part of the partnership for peace are invited, and our country has been part of this partnership since 1994", said Mihai Popșoi.

The authorities in Chisinau have high expectations from the NATO Summit this month, so that our country will continue to benefit from the support of the member states of the alliance, said the deputy prime minister.

"The expectations are natural to strengthen our partnerships with all NATO countries, to strengthen our security and defense, so that the peace and tranquility of the citizens prevails," said the minister.

Also, Mihai Popșoi welcomed the appointment of the new Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte. He said that Rutte is an experienced politician and a good friend of our country. Thus, the Republic of Moldova and NATO will continue their dialogue and cooperation in various fields.

"I don't know if we can talk about a change of attitude, certainly Mark Rutte is a friend of the Republic of Moldova, who visited us. He is an experienced politician, we are confident that he will have enough training to lead the alliance in such a complicated moment", concluded Popșoi.

It should be noted that an important topic on the agenda of the NATO Summit is the coordination of arms deliveries to Ukraine by the structures of the North Atlantic organization.

We remind you that the Republic of Moldova joined NATO's "Partnership for Peace" program in 1994, and on December 8, 2017, the former Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Rose Gottemoeller, inaugurated the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau.
