Armenia is ready to raise the level of relations with the United States to a strategic partnership
Armenia and the United States of America expressed their readiness to take bilateral relations to a new level, raising them to a strategic partnership. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in a congratulatory telegram sent to US President Joe Biden on the occasion of Independence Day, reports EFE.
“I am pleased to note that the commitment to further expand our cooperation in the areas of democratic reforms, strengthening economic and energy sustainability, justice, anti-corruption, security and other areas is reflected in the concept of elevating the strategic dialogue between Armenia and the United States to the level of a strategic partnership”, Pashinyan noted.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the strength of the partnership between Yerevan and Washington, focusing on close ties and significant growth in cooperation in recent years. According to him, these achievements are the result of active interaction and support provided by the United States to Armenia.
Pashinyan especially noted the role of the United States in establishing peace in the region, emphasizing that Yerevan highly values Washington’s support in matters of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Armenia in accordance with the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.
In recent years, cooperation between Armenia and the United States has actively developed, which was reflected in numerous visits of official delegations, the signing of bilateral agreements and the implementation of joint projects. The transition to a strategic partnership could seriously undermine cooperation between Yerevan and Moscow.
