Romania has pledged to support Ukraine as long as it takes

The presidential administration of Ukraine publicized the security agreement signed by presidents Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Klaus Iohannis, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington. "Romania will continue to support Ukraine as long as it takes for Ukraine to assert itself, maintaining the current dynamic level of assistance, including the military assistance packages agreed between the two defense ministries," reads the document cited by G4media.

According to the source, the agreement has strictly political value, not legal. This means that Romania is not committed to providing security guarantees to Ukraine.

The political agreement derives from the G7 Declaration of Support for Ukraine in 2023.

We remind you that Romania will offer Ukraine a PATRIOT system, a donation conditional on the possibility of purchasing an equivalent system.

Also, Ukrainian pilots will be trained in Romania for the American F-16 fighter jets that Kiev is preparing to receive from a number of NATO countries, starting with the Netherlands and Denmark.
