Boris Gîlca: By the end of January, there will be an increase in respiratory infections among children

More than 5,200 cases of respiratory infections were confirmed last week in the municipality of Chisinau, half of which were found in children, announced the head of the Health and Social Assistance Directorate, Boris Gîlca. According to him, after the return from the winter vacation, the number of infections could increase among minors.

He also said that the number of Covid 19 infections in Chisinau is increasing. "Municipal children's hospitals are crowded but the pressure is much less than it was in the last three weeks. In Chisinau we registered 162 cases of flu, 67 cases of Covid, 14 more cases than in the previous week and also in the previous week there was a case of death due to Covid. We will have a continuous increase until the end of January due to the return of the children to schools", declared Boris Gîlca. The authorities urge the population to respect the preventive measures against viruses and flu. Meanwhile, the National Public Health Agency recommends the establishment of the morning filter in early childhood education institutions, by checking the temperature and symptoms of acute viral respiratory diseases. We mention that in the Republic of Moldova, four deaths were recorded due to complications following flu and viral illnesses. One of these was cataloged as Flurona, given the fact that the person was simultaneously infected with COVID-19.
