Moldova Unveils Tuition Hikes, Online Admissions
The Moldovan government will fund over 5,000 university places for the upcoming academic year. The Nicolae Testimințeanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) boasts the most expensive tuition contract at 55,000 lei.
USMF maintains the highest tuition fees. Dentistry students face a hefty 55,000 lei price tag, representing a nearly 13,000 lei increase compared to last year. In contrast, the cost of studying medicine or optometry remains at 33,000 lei, with a modest 500 lei increase.
Pharmacy students will continue to pay the same fee of 30,000 lei as in 2023. The Academy of Arts follows closely behind USMF with the second highest tuition fees. The annual tuition for the classical singing program exceeds 51,000 lei, reflecting a significant 10,000 lei increase. A pop singing program costs 42,000 lei, nearly 9,000 lei more expensive than the previous year.
Tuition fees at the Technical University have also been revised. Architecture students will now pay 19,000 lei annually, a 2,000 lei increase. For most specialties in computer science, information technology, and microelectronics, the cost of studies remains at 15,400 lei. The exception is Software Engineering, which carries a tuition fee of 17,500 lei, representing a 1,500 lei increase.
Those pursuing a career in veterinary medicine will face a tuition fee of 17,000 lei, reflecting a 2,000 lei increase from the previous year. The Academy of Economic Studies maintains a single fee of 13,500 lei for all specialties.
The Free International University of Moldova (ULIM) offers tuition contracts ranging from 7,000 to 16,000 lei. The State University of Moldova has not yet released its tuition fees for the new academic year.
University admissions begin today, July 22nd. This year, prospective students can submit their applications online through a platform developed by the Ministry of Education. Experts anticipate an increase in the admission rate.
