Increased security measures in the UK after the murder of three little girls in Southport
British police will send extra officers to the streets across the country this weekend, preparing for further potential unrest following riots and other violent incidents since the killing of three children in northwest England on Monday, officials said, Reuters reports.
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murdering three girls in a knife attack at a dance workshop in the usually quiet seaside town of Southport, a killing that shocked the nation.
In an attempt to quell the fake information, police said the suspect, Axel Rudakubana, was born in Britain. However, more demonstrations by anti-immigration protesters are planned across the UK this weekend. Several counter-protests by those opposed to racism have also been planned.
British police chiefs have agreed to increase resources and to deploy large numbers of officers over the weekend to deter any violence, authorities said today.
