Diaspora Days. List of events and activities
Several thematic events for our compatriots returning home will be organized during the Diaspora Days, which will start on Friday, August 16, announced the State Secretary of the Government, Ana Calinici, at a conference.
The series of events begins with the DOR Program, in which 100 children from Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Great Britain, Portugal, Romania, Spain, the USA, Turkey and the Republic of Moldova participate, who will know more about the traditions and culture of our country. Several activities were planned for the young people, including crafts and folk dances, theatre, Romanian literature and excursions through the country's scenic spots. On August 16, the Open Doors Day of the Government Building will take place, to allow members of the diaspora to ask questions, to come up with suggestions and proposals regarding the activity of the institutions and how we can build Europe at home. On the same day, a round table on the cooperation between the diaspora and the Government will be organized on the Diaspora Engagement Platform.
"The experience that our citizens gain abroad is extremely valuable for us, and the events we organize have precisely this goal - to ensure that the expertise of the diaspora is fully integrated into the processes of implementing public policies", said the secretary of state, Ana Calinici. Likewise, on Friday, the young people who returned home are invited to participate in the 3rd edition of the Diaspora Youth Forum.
"Another event will be organized for young people by the International Republican Institute, in collaboration with the Central Electoral Commission. There we will discuss the importance of participating in the elections", added the State Secretary of the Government.
On Saturday, August 17, the "See you at home" festival will take place, at which the country's leadership will be present - the president Maia Sandu, the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and the prime minister Dorin Recean. Several beloved artists will perform on the stage of the event, including the National Youth Orchestra of Moldova, Cătălin Josan, Felicia Dunaf, Pasha Parfeni, the dancers of the "Hecenii" Ensemble and the "Mocănașii" Ensemble.
Entrepreneurs are also invited, on August 18, to a new edition of the Diaspora Business Forum event. The play "Frunze de dor" by Ion Druță, directed by Alexandru Cozub, will be performed at the National Theater "Mihai Eminescu" on Sunday evening. Tickets can be purchased online.
