Russian attacks in Donetsk: Three dead, five Injured
Russian attacks have resulted in the deaths of three civilians and injuries to five others over the past 24 hours in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, a local official reported on Friday.
Meanwhile, Moscow's forces are advancing towards Pokrovsk, a key logistical hub, according to Reuters.
The Donetsk region, partially occupied by Russian troops, is frequently subjected to bombardments and airstrikes. Ukraine asserts that regaining control of the region is a key priority for Moscow on the battlefield.
Vadim Filashkin, the governor of the Donetsk region, reported that an attack in the Selidove area, near Pokrovsk, resulted in three people being injured. He also mentioned that six buildings were damaged.
One person was killed in the village of Mykolaivka, and two others were injured in Kostiantynivka, a city west of Bakhmut, which was captured by Russia last year after months of intense fighting.
Filashkin also reported that two more people were killed in the village of Verkhniokamianske. Additionally, nine residential buildings and eight houses were damaged in the district.
On Friday, Russia claimed it had captured a village about 15 kilometres from Pokrovsk, in eastern Ukraine, according to AFP.
“Due to the actions of the Central Group of Troops, the village of Seguiivka has been liberated,” announced the Russian Ministry of Defense on Telegram. The previous day, the ministry also claimed the capture of another village in the area.
