ASP alerts citizens to fraudulent licence plate offers online
The Public Services Agency (ASP) has issued a warning to citizens regarding recent attempts to illegally sell automobile licence plates.
According to the agency, there have been several reports of unauthorised individuals attempting to sell these plates through online advertisements.
ASP stresses that licence plates can only be legally obtained through its regional branches. "There is no other legal way to acquire a preferred licence plate number except by submitting a request to ASP and paying the required fee," states the agency.
In this context, ASP urges the public to disregard any offers that claim to provide licence plate numbers outside of legal channels and to verify information directly on the agency’s official website.
Furthermore, individuals who have fallen victim to such scams are advised to report them immediately to law enforcement authorities.
Citizens have access to over 17 million licence plate combinations. To check the availability of a specific plate number and learn about the procedure for obtaining it, ASP recommends visiting the agency’s official website.
