Russian air defence units reportedly destroyed 11 drones flying toward the capital, the mayor added, as cited by Reuters.

Some drones were destroyed above the city of Podolsk, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. The city, located in the Moscow region, is approximately 38 kilometres south of the Kremlin.

“This is one of the largest drone attack attempts on Moscow ever,” Sobyanin wrote on the messaging app Telegram early Wednesday morning.

The attack on Moscow was accompanied by drone raids on several Russian regions. So far, no casualties have been reported.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian operations continue in Russia’s Kursk region, now in their third week. Kyiv claims that its forces have captured 93 localities and over 1,250 square kilometres during this period. The Russian intelligence service told the local press that it has information suggesting the Ukrainian offensive was prepared with the participation of the intelligence services of the United States, Great Britain, and Poland, though it did not present any evidence to support this claim. According to TASS, a news agency close to the Kremlin, over 30 people were killed and 143 wounded during the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region.

Russian Federation attacks on Ukrainian territory also continue unabated. In response, Ukrainian authorities plan to evacuate 45,000 residents from the Sumy region, located on Ukraine's northeastern border with Russia, according to Interior Minister Igor Klymenko, as cited by The Kyiv Independent. He stated that the evacuees are being transported to the Poltava and Kyiv regions.
