Government cracks down on unauthorised service uniforms

The production and sale of service uniforms for law enforcement and security institutions outside of public procurement procedures will be penalised. A decision to this effect was approved today by the government.

Businesses may only engage in this activity under a public procurement contract, requested by authorities responsible for defence, national security, public order, and the penitentiary system.

Failure to comply will result in fines ranging from 1,000 to 4,000 lei for individuals, while officials will face fines between 4,500 and 7,500 lei.

Additionally, legal entities will be fined between 5,500 and 8,000 lei and may be prohibited from operating for up to five months.

These measures are intended to prevent the misuse of service uniforms and the distinctive insignia of public officials with special status within the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
