The Chief of the National Army General Staff, Eduard Ohladciuc, was dismissed. The decree regarding his removal from office was signed on Friday, September 27, by the head of state Maia Sandu, at the proposal of the Government.
We remind you that on September 18, the Cabinet of Ministers proposed the dismissal of Eduard Ohladciuc from office. Prime Minister Dorin Recean told Moldova 1 TV that it is a normal procedure, because "his contract has expired and another person must be appointed".
Also, the Ministry of Defense stated the same thing on the Facebook page:
"In connection with the submission of the Government's proposal to dismiss Eduard Ohladciuc from the position of Chief of the General Staff of the National Army, commander of the National Army, the action takes place in connection with the expiration of his military service contract".
We mention that Eduard Ohladciuc has held the position of Chief of the General Staff since November 2021, replacing Igor Gorgan, who is under criminal investigation for treason.
