The Republic of Moldova will receive 27 million dollars from the IMF

The Republic of Moldova will receive 27 million dollars from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The representatives of the IMF reached an expert-level agreement with the authorities of the Republic of Moldova regarding the economic policies necessary to complete the second evaluation of the program supported by the Extended Credit Mechanism and the Extended Financing Mechanism. The agreement is to be approved by the Board of Executive Directors of the IMF in January 2023.

The completion of the second evaluation of the program will allow the Republic of Moldova to access over 20 million special drawing rights, which is about 27 million dollars. Thus, the total amount of disbursements made within the program will be about 287 million dollars, reports IPN. We remind that between October 31 and November 29, the IMF mission led by Ruben Atoyan had discussions in Chisinau and remotely with the authorities of the Republic of Moldova. Ruben Atoyan said the authorities met all performance criteria and completed the structural benchmark in the area of public investment management.
