Expert Veaceslav Ioniță: The exports of the Republic of Moldova in 2022 have increased
In 2022, exports from the Republic of Moldova had a total value of 4.3 billion dollars. This fact was recorded for the first time in the history of our country's economy. This was announced by the economic policy expert Veaceslav Ioniță.
As factors that contributed to the increase are global inflation, rising prices worldwide, the war in Ukraine and the recovery from the 2020 pandemic crisis. "The export of the Republic of Moldova in 2022, formally, has increased. We reached 4.3 billion dollars of export, the maximum figure in our history. We have an economy dependent on agriculture and we have some extremely vulnerable exports due to climate conditions and the situation in agriculture, and the most unpleasant thing is that we have economies with negative price competition, which means that we have to produce more and more to import the same volume of goods", said Veaceslav Ionița. Two countries contributed the most to the increase in Moldovan exports. Thus, Ukraine and Romania generated 80 percent of everything from last year. The economist stated that all we have to do in the coming years is to identify the products we can export in such a way that their prices rise at least equal to the prices of the products we import. Otherwise, we have an economy doomed to underdevelopment.
