Mircea Geoană: NATO allies will continue to provide military and humanitarian support to Ukraine
The winter months for Ukraine will be slower militarily, but extremely strategic from a political and economic point of view, said Deputy Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) Mircea Geoană in an interview for Digi24.
According to him, NATO allies will continue to provide military and humanitarian support to Ukraine. The NATO deputy spoke about a G7-EU plan to rebuild Ukraine's energy infrastructure, stating, however, that it must be implemented in parallel with strengthening the country's air defenses, so that civilian infrastructures are protected. "On the one hand there are resources, intentions and a G7-EU plan discussed yesterday to restore the energy infrastructure in a very difficult time for the Ukrainian population, but let's also have the anti-missile defense because otherwise we fix them, the Russians tear them down and we enter a vicious circle. What we anticipate are a few months, which, although they will be slightly slower militarily, will be extremely energetic from a strategic, political and economic point of view", said Mircea Geoană. We remind you that this week, the North Atlantic Alliance Meeting was held in Bucharest. The NATO Ministerial, the first organized on the Eastern Flank after the start of the war in Ukraine and the most important meeting since the Madrid summit, ended with a five-point Declaration, but also with clear signals, given including to partner countries, such as the Republic of Moldova , Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
