Fines of over 2 million lei, applied by the CNA for electoral bribery
The National Anticorruption Center (CNA) applied fines worth over 2 million lei for electoral bribing. Another thousand minutes received from the Police are in the process of examination. According to the legislation in force, for committing this contravention, the legislation in force provides for a fine from 25,000 lei to 37,500 lei.
The CNA points out that the person who committed the contraventional act is released from contraventional liability if he self-reported and/or actively contributed to discovering or countering the commission of the act of electoral bribing.
The institution informs that people who offer money to influence the results of an election risk from one to 5 years in prison and a fine of over 50 thousand lei, and the illegal financing of political parties from prohibited sources is punishable by up to to 6 years in prison and a fine of over 67 thousand lei.
To ensure the recovery of the damage, the legal institutions can seize the person's assets.
