PSRM does not recognize the results of the presidential elections. PAS and CEC react
The Socialist Party does not recognize the results of the presidential elections, in which the PAS candidate, Maia Sandu, emerged victorious, and the candidate promoted by the political formation, Alexandr Stoianoglo, lost the competition.
The leader of the PSRM, Igor Dodon, wrote on his Facebook page that Maia Sandu became the "president of the diaspora", and Alexandr Stoianoglo, who scored 51.19% of the votes internally, is the "president of the people of Moldova".
He argues that the presidential elections, especially the voting in the Transnistrian region and at polling stations abroad, cannot be considered a free and democratic expression of the people's will. Also, Dodon thanked the citizens who supported Stoianoglo, on behalf of the PSRM.
Contacted for a comment, PAS spokesperson Adriana Vlas told TRM that the political formation does not comment on the socialists' statements. Rodica Sîrbu, the spokesperson of the CEC, stated that the electoral institution does not comment on the accusations.
Maia Sandu won a new presidential mandate, with a score of 55.33%, after processing 100% of the minutes for the second round of voting. Over 929 thousand voters voted for Maia Sandu, over 179 thousand more than for the socialist candidate, Alexandr Stoianoglo, who scored 44.67 percent of the votes.
