Anatolie Nosatîi attends the SEDM meeting, focusing on Moldova's European path and Black Sea security

Recent developments regarding the security situation in the Black Sea region and the European path of the Republic of Moldova were the topics discussed by the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, during a meeting with his Romanian counterpart, Angel Tîlvăr, on the sidelines of the South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM) meeting, held in Tirana, Albania.

During their conversation, Minister Tîlvăr underscored the importance of robust support for Moldova in light of existing security challenges and attempts at destabilization, which are part of the hybrid actions by the Russian Federation.

"I conveyed my congratulations to our partners in Chisinau on Maia Sandu's re-election as president of the Republic of Moldova and on the results of the referendum, which showcase a steadfast commitment to European integration. We will continue our political-military dialogue to address Chisinau’s support needs regarding the country's European aspirations," said Angel Tîlvăr.

The Romanian Defense Minister pointed that the Republic of Moldova was the first nation to establish a security and defence partnership with the European Union, signed on May 21. He emphasized, "This partnership, alongside bilateral initiatives and financial assistance provided through the European Peace Facility, is crucial for the modernization and enhancement of the Republic of Moldova’s armed forces."

Furthermore, Minister Tîlvăr recognized Moldova’s participation as a full member for the first time in the South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM) meeting following its official accession in Ankara in 2023.
