Odessa under fire: Russia launches new drone attacks

Russian forces continued their relentless drone attacks on Ukraine, targeting critical infrastructure and civilian areas.

Odessa, a key Ukrainian port city, bore the brunt of these attacks, suffering casualties and property damage. In retaliation, Ukraine launched drone strikes on Russian territory, including Moscow, disrupting air traffic and highlighting the escalating conflict.

For the second consecutive night, Russian forces launched a drone attack on the city of Odessa. At least two individuals sustained injuries, and multiple buildings were damaged during the night of Saturday to Sunday, according to Reuters.

The attack resulted in several fires, the regional State Emergency Service reported. Russian forces unleashed a record-breaking 145 drones on Ukraine overnight, with Ukrainian air defences successfully intercepting 62 of them, as reported by The Kyiv Independent.

Simultaneously, a Ukrainian drone attack targeted the Russian border region of Bryansk, igniting several non-residential structures, according to regional governor Alexander Bogomaz on Sunday. He stated on Telegram that Russian air defence systems destroyed more than 14 Ukrainian drones within the region's airspace overnight.

In a related development, Russia's aviation oversight agency, Rosaviatsia, announced the temporary suspension of flights at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport due to a drone attack. Ukrainian forces launched a drone attack on Moscow on Sunday, employing at least 32 drones, marking the largest such assault on the Russian capital to date, as confirmed by Russian officials.
