Bad weather triggers accidents on Moldova roads: Police warning

Several road accidents have taken place in the past few hours on the country’s roads due to adverse weather conditions.

According to the local police, a 60-year-old man was driving a car with a woman and two minors as passengers when he veered off the road and crashed into a tree. The passengers were taken to the district hospital to receive medical attention. The driver was breathalysed, and the result was negative.

Another accident occurred on the Ungheni-Cetireni road. A 36-year-old female driver, with two minors as passengers, skidded off the road and ended up on the roadside. No injuries were reported, according to the General Police Inspectorate.

To travel safely, the police recommend exercising caution in traffic, only starting your journey if the car is equipped with winter tires, and reducing speed.

It should be noted that, according to meteorologists, the weather has changed abruptly due to atmospheric fronts linked to the Atlantic cyclone. Heavy rain, sleet, and snow are forecast, with isolated areas expecting strong precipitation. During the day, light precipitation is expected in isolated areas, with icy patches forming on the roads.
