Moldova cracks down on illegal military uniforms with new bill
The illegal manufacturing or sale of military service uniforms will be penalised, with a draft bill amending several laws having been adopted by Parliament in the second reading.
The draft prohibits the manufacturing and use of uniforms, ranks, and military insignia by employees of public institutions and business agents, as well as the unauthorised wearing of these items in any situation, outside of legal procurement procedures.
Individuals who violate the law will be fined up to 4,000 lei (200 euro). For individuals in responsible positions, the fine will range from 4,500 to 7,500 lei, while legal entities will face fines between 5,500 and 8,000 lei, along with a suspension of certain activities for up to five months.
According to Parliament, the proposed amendments are grounded in national and regional security, the threat of terrorism and cross-border crime, and the undermining of public order and state authority.
