Two individuals are under criminal investigation after attempting to leave the Republic of Moldova with undeclared cash. These incidents were reported by the Border Police at Chisinau International Airport.
In the first case, a 54-year-old German citizen was found to have 38,100 euros and 2,700 dollars in his hand luggage, which he did not declare to the customs authorities. He was a passenger on the "Chisinau-Vienna" flight.
The second incident occurred on the "Chisinau-Bologna" flight, where a 47-year-old Moldovan was found with 10,160 pounds sterling and 1,210 euros in his hand luggage, also undeclared to customs authorities.
As a result, the funds that exceeded the allowable limit for transportation without mandatory declaration were seized. Authorities continue to investigate these cases to determine all the circumstances involved.
