Minister Delegate for European Affairs: Moldova's EU Integration will bring stability and unity
Moldova's accession to the European Union will bring stability and unity to the continent, said Benjamin Haddad, French Minister Delegate for European Affairs, on the "Diplomatic Dimension" program on Moldova 1 TV. In this context, the official reaffirmed France's support for our country's European aspirations and encouraged the authorities in Chisinau and the citizens to continue progress on the path of reforms.
"I came to Chisinau to address a message of support to the people of Moldova in this process of accession to the European Union. Moldova has the vocation to join the EU and I appreciate the ambitious reforms launched by the head of state and government. (..) It is a demanding process and it is normal because this is the strength of the European Union to protect its values, but we see that the Government and citizens of Moldova support these European aspirations," said the official.
The French official drew attention to the threats coming from Russia, which is trying to undermine Moldova's European path and destabilize the region. According to him, Russian interference, cyber attacks and disinformation campaigns affect not only the Republic of Moldova, but also other European states.
"All our democracies are threatened, Moldova is a front line for European democracy. The reason why Russia attacks the Republic of Moldova is that it wanted to threaten the European path that the Moldovan people are taking and through Moldova it targets Europe. (..) It is important to work together so that our collective resilience at the European level increases", the official stressed.
Also, the French Minister Delegate for European Affairs urged Moldovans to look at "every moment as an opportunity" and reiterated France's support for the Republic of Moldova and its people.
