Presidential Elections in Romania // Polling stations in the Republic of Moldova have closed. The Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) has suspended all operations

Polling stations in the Republic of Moldova have now closed. The Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) has suspended all operations related to voting and vote preparation.

This decision comes after the Constitutional Court of Romania annulled the entire electoral process for the 2024 presidential election. The BEC has also mandated the sealing and transfer of electoral materials to diplomatic missions and consular offices. Furthermore, all unused ballot papers will be canceled as per this decision.

We remind you that, following the ruling from the Constitutional Court, polling stations abroad remained open for an additional three hours, allowing Romanian citizens to continue exercising their right to vote.

In the Republic of Moldova, more than 9,000 Romanians voted, out of a total of over 53,000 who voted at polling stations outside Romania.
