Integrity first: New campaign targets Moldova customs corruption
A nationwide "Integrity First in Customs" campaign is underway at all border crossings until December 11th.
Travelers are receiving informational materials outlining the risks and consequences of corruption, along with contact details for reporting instances of corruption or misconduct.
The campaign was launched at the Leușeni Border Crossing Point, where Customs Service Director Alexandru Iacub distributed the first informational materials.
"The 'Integrity First in Customs' campaign reflects our commitment to preventing and combating corruption through strict measures and zero tolerance for non-compliant practices. We aim to strengthen institutional integrity and educate both officials and travelers about the risks of bribery," said Iacub.
Rosario de Blasio, the EU's Senior Advisor for Customs and Fiscal Policy, stated: "By simplifying legislation, increasing transparency, automating processes, strengthening professional ethics, and improving working conditions, we are creating the necessary conditions to eliminate corruption."
The Customs Service believes the "Integrity First in Customs" campaign is a significant step towards strengthening public and international partner trust, emphasizing transparency, ethics, and integrity in customs operations.
