Parliament approves: Mobile phones will be banned during lessons
Deputies approved on Friday, December 13, in second reading the amendment to the Education Code that provides for the ban on the use of mobile phones and other electronic communication equipment during lessons.
Under the new provisions, the use of electronic communication devices during lessons will be allowed for educational purposes, in emergencies, such as health conditions, and in the event of the need to monitor the health of students with disabilities or severe chronic diseases, confirmed by documentation.
By this measure, the Ministry of Education and Research aims to increase the level of safety in the school environment, in the context in which the excessive use of mobile phones can cause distraction of students. It will also reduce the phenomenon of cyberbullying. This practice already exists in some educational institutions, which have adopted internal regulations in this regard.
Another amendment to the Education Code aims to introduce, within lyceum education, a general study profile, in addition to the exact and humanistic ones, for schools where a single lyceum class will be opened.
