Moldovan schools switch to centralized heating

Several buildings at the Academy of Economic Studies (ASEM) and the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) are transitioning to a centralized heating system.

The Ministry of Energy states that this project will lead to substantial cost savings for both institutions.

The transfer encompasses the heating networks of five ASEM-managed student dormitories and various thermal infrastructure components. For UTM, the transfer includes the heating plant building and associated equipment, such as electric pumps, meters, discharge pipes, and boilers.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the transfer of these assets to S.A. "Termoelectrica" at its meeting on December 18th.

The Technical University of Moldova spends roughly 1 million lei annually on heating system maintenance, while ASEM's dormitories require approximately 700,000 lei (~36,000 euro) for upgrades and efficiency improvements.

This year, the "Emilian Coțaga" Clinic complex, the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research, and two new residential buildings in Chisinau were also reconnected to the SACET system.

A previous government decision led to the reconnection of the Presidential Palace, the Parliament, and 65 other public institutions to the centralized heating system.
