The Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office requests house arrest on behalf of former president Igor Dodon
The criminal investigation bodies established that the referral-extract issued by the family doctor, on the basis of which Igor Dodon's preventive measure was changed, in order to go abroad with his son for treatment, would be falsified. On Thursday, the Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office submitted an application to the Supreme Court of Justice, regarding the replacement of the preventive measure of the former president with the measure of house arrest, with the obligation not to leave the Republic of Moldova.
Radio Moldova reminds its audience that on January 19, Igor Dodon's defenders in the court session submitted a request by which they requested his approval to leave the Republic of Moldova, between January 28 and February 5, in order to ensure a rehabilitation treatment after COVID-19, in Romania, of his son, attaching in this sense a series of documents that would confirm the necessity of traveling abroad.
At the same time, the lawyers and the defendant Dodon Igor motivated the need to approve the abandonment by presenting the Referral-Extract from the doctors. In the court session, the prosecutors requested to hear the doctor, but the court rejected that request.
On January 25, the doctor stated that he did not know the mentioned patient and that he would have affixed the stamp on the Send-Extras at the request of a colleague. According to the interviewed doctor, the request came from his colleague who always examines the Dodon family and who is in close relations with them, being the wife of a councilor from the Chisinau Municipal Council, a member of the faction of the party of which the defendant was also a part.
At the same time, he mentioned that the procedures indicated in the Sending-Extras do not need to be performed abroad, as they are available in the Republic of Moldova, and in the national clinical protocol regarding the treatment of the COVID-19 infection (medium severity form), there are no such recommendations. In these circumstances, on Thursday, the prosecutors seized documents and computer devices, so all actions will be examined through the lens of the crime of making, possessing, selling or using official documents that grant rights, in this sense a criminal trial has been initiated.
