Zelensky pushes for more drones and air defense at Ramstein

The President of Ukraine has arrived in Germany for the upcoming meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at the American Ramstein military base.

In his speech, Volodymyr Zelensky said he views the potential new term for Donald Trump in the White House as a "new era" and "a moment of opportunity," DW reports.

"We need drones," Zelensky stressed. "We need the air defense systems you promised Ukraine. This will help prevent losses on the front lines and save soldiers' lives. I urge you to become more involved in drone production in Ukraine; after the war, this will be Ukraine’s 'strength.'"

"I am doing everything in my power to end the war with dignity this year," Zelensky added.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced a new $500 million military aid package for Ukraine during the meeting. According to him, the package includes air defense missiles, ammunition, and weapons for F-16 fighter jets.
