One-off allowance for vulnerable citizens and Ukrainian refugees

Vulnerable people from the Republic of Moldova and Ukrainian refugees with temporary protection status will benefit starting today from a single financial aid, offered under the "Winter Financial Assistance for Vulnerable Households" program. According to a press release from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the amount varies depending on the energy compensation established individually for each beneficiary and the maximum ceiling established for each category.

These compensations will benefit potential beneficiaries/applicants of the social service "Personal Assistance" and Ukrainian refugees, who have obtained temporary protection status, and registered in the SIVE (Information System "Energy Vulnerability"). The aid will be distributed between February 27 and March 21, 2025, through two methods: at home, for people with disabilities who cannot travel, and at post offices, for other categories of beneficiaries.

Eligible persons will be informed by SMS about how they can receive financial aid. They may also be contacted by phone by partners of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, but they will not be asked for personal data.

"To confirm their identity at the time of receiving the money, beneficiaries will only have to present their identity card to the post office representative, whether they receive the aid at home or the post office. It will not be necessary to present or send the identity card to another person to access financial aid”, reads the cited source.

The financial support is granted to help vulnerable households to cope with the expenses of the cold season and is financed by the People in Need organization. In total, the program has a budget of 700,000 euros, and the money will be distributed by the end of March 2025.

We remind you that, previously, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Vasile Cușca said in the show “Dimineata cu Radio Moldova” that about 4,700 families from our country and about 2,600 refugee families from Ukraine will benefit from this financial support, and the amounts granted will vary between 1,000 and 1,500 lei.
