Trump pauses US military support for Ukraine: arms deliveries suspended

U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to suspend military aid deliveries to Ukraine until the Kyiv administration shows a "commitment to peace." A White House official announced this decision, which was reported by international media on the night of March 4.
“The president has been clear: he wants peace. We need our partners to be committed to this goal. We are suspending and reassessing aid to ensure it is contributing to resolving the problem,” a US official stated on the condition of anonymity.
According to Fox News, this action does not signify a permanent end to military support but rather a “pause.” The decision affects all US military equipment that has not yet been delivered to Ukraine, including shipments currently in transit to their destination or awaiting transit through Poland.
The Trump administration analyzed this decision on March 3, and sources cited by the Wall Street Journal suggest that Washington may also block deliveries from existing US stocks. This measure could jeopardize Ukraine’s ability to continue resisting the advance of Russian troops.
President Trump has yet to officially comment on this decision. However, on March 3, he criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his remarks about the lack of immediate prospects for peace with Russia.
“This is the worst announcement Zelensky could have made. America will not tolerate this anymore! He does not want peace as long as he receives American support,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, TruthSocial.
In response, President Zelensky stated that Ukraine desires peace more than anyone. “We need to stop the war and guarantee security. We are collaborating with the US and our European partners and rely on US support to achieve peace soon,” the Ukrainian leader said.
Since the onset of the war in February 2022, the US has provided Ukraine with $65.9 billion in military aid, according to the State Department. In total, US support for Kyiv, including economic and humanitarian assistance, has reached $114.2 billion, according to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.
Trump-Zelensky Meeting
We remind you that Zelensky met with Trump in the Oval Office on February 28. The two leaders were expected to sign a framework agreement regarding Ukraine's natural resources. The visit followed weeks of tense negotiations, during which Ukraine rejected two initial draft proposals, arguing that they imposed unilateral obligations on Kyiv without providing security commitments from Washington.
The meeting concluded without an agreement after a heated discussion between Zelensky and Trump regarding US aid to Ukraine and the terms of a potential peace deal with Russia.
Following the talks, Trump declared that Zelensky "is not ready for peace" and accused him of disrespecting the US in the Oval Office.
Negotiations between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky could resume if the Ukrainian president is prepared to engage seriously in discussions about peace, US Vice President J.D. Vance stated in an interview with Fox News. He was also involved in the recent Oval Office disagreement between the US and Ukrainian leaders.
EU considers confiscating over 200 billion euros in russian assets
The European Union is analyzing the confiscation of over 200 billion euros in Russian assets as part of security guarantees for Ukraine following the war. According to the Financial Times, these measures would be initiated if Moscow violates a potential ceasefire agreement.
