Diplomas of merit for women entrepreneurs transforming agriculture in Moldova

Many Moldovan women leading successful agricultural businesses received diplomas of merit and awards in the Women in Agriculture Gala. The event also focused on issues related to women's roles in agriculture and aimed at promoting the development of the sector.

At the Women in Agriculture Gala, several outstanding individuals were honored for their achievements. Among them is Lilia Ursu, who operates a small artisan bakery that specializes in baking bread with live yeast.

“This bread is a yeast bread that truly captures the aroma of grains and the essence of the earth. This aroma has spread through social networks and among my acquaintances, relatives, and neighbors. Thanks to everyone who supported me, I began baking more. When I realized I needed a better space to work, I started searching for a place to carry out my activities,” said Lilia Ursu, an entrepreneur.

Lilia explains that baking bread with yeast involves a more extensive production process. “This bread requires the baker's full commitment. The process starts with multiplying the yeast, then the dough is prepared for cold fermentation the next day, and only on the third day is the bread baked,” she explained.

The effort results in high-quality products that consumers appreciate. “All the products we offer are yeast-based. We also produce baguettes, croissants, cinnamon rolls, and holiday cakes, all of which undergo a cold fermentation process,” Lilia added.

During the event, other success stories were shared by women who invested financial resources and knowledge to create jobs. For instance, Doina Grati, an entrepreneur from Negrești, Strașeni, shared her experience: “I come from a family of farmers in Negrești. We grow plums and process them into dried plums without smoke or sugar. Initially, we were concerned about reaching the European market, but Europeans found us online.”

Ala Sîncu, an entrepreneur from Cernoleuca, Dondușeni, also spoke about her venture: “We planted 45,000 lavender cuttings on three hectares, referring to it as a miraculous plant. Since 2020, when we began harvesting, we have been selling over ten lavender products in the Republic of Moldova, all created by our family.”

The Women in Agriculture Gala awarded women who have distinguished themselves through innovative ideas, job creation, and community involvement. Raluca Voivozeanu, the organizer, remarked, “We placed a strong emphasis on their successes and the exceptional results achieved in various fields, including cereals, vines, wine production, and processed fruits”, said Raluca Voivozeanu, organizer.

Now in its fourth consecutive year, the event successfully brought together 40 entrepreneurs from the agricultural sector.
