French language project inspires children in Soroca kindergartens

We’re talking about the children attending Kindergarten No. 16 in Soroca. These activities are part of the pilot project “Supporting the Appeal of the French Language through Educational Actions in Early Education Institutions and Bilingual Francophone Primary Classes”, implemented by the French Embassy and Alliance Française in Moldova.

The children at “Izvoraș” Kindergarten are discovering the French language through fun activities such as songs and role plays. This way, they understand and are able to express themselves more easily in French.

“I like French because it’s melodic, and I want to go to France.”

“I’m learning French to make school easier for me.”

The activity occurs twice a week and is led by Diana Cebotari, a French teacher at “Constantin Stere” High School in Soroca. As part of the project, the kindergarten has received educational materials and digital equipment to support the children in their learning.

“I would venture to say that these activities have a positive impact both cognitively and emotionally, as we see the children more engaged and with an increased enthusiasm for learning every day,” said Diana Cebotari.

Thirty-three children are learning French, and starting September 1, they will become students in a francophone class.

“We hope that this project will continue successfully in the future and that more children can benefit from these highly engaging French lessons, as the teacher uses songs and role plays to encourage a love for the French language,” said Cristina Boldescu, a methodologist.

In this project, more than 200 children from six other kindergartens, along with approximately one thousand students in primary school classes from six high schools across the country, are learning French.
