The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, is paying his first official visit to the Republic of Moldova today, March 20. He will be welcomed in Chisinau by President Maia Sandu, during an official ceremony organised at the Presidency. During the visit, the two heads of state will discuss the support provided by the Czech Republic to the Republic of Moldova, bilateral relations and the prospects for European integration. At 10:20, Sandu and Petr Pavel will hold a joint press conference.
We remind you that in recent years, the Czech Republic has consistently supported the Republic of Moldova in several important areas, such as social development, healthcare, education, agriculture and crisis management. The Czech Republic's support intensified after February 2022, in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine, which directly affected the Republic of Moldova, triggering the refugee and energy crises.
In this cold season, financial compensations for vulnerable families, as well as Ukrainian refugees, were paid, including thanks to financial support from the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic also unconditionally supports the European path of the Republic of Moldova, and recently called for the acceleration of integration into the EU bloc for both our country and its neighbor - Ukraine.
