Moldovagaz received back the gas loaned to the Transnistrian region

Tiraspoltransgaz returned, between March 26 and 31, 3 million cubic meters of natural gas to Moldovagaz, based on the contractual conditions established by the Commission for Emergencies (CSE). This is the second tranche returned this year, after the same amount of gas was returned between February 26 and 28, Moldovagaz informs.

The returned volumes are part of the 3 million cubic meters of natural gas loaned by Moldovagaz to Tiraspoltransgaz based on a decision adopted on February 10 by the CSE.

We remind you that starting with February 14, the gas is delivered to the Transnistrian region through the European trader MET. It reaches the Republic of Moldova through Romania and Ukraine, and is then taken over by Moldovagaz and distributed on the left bank of the Nistru. Although the financing is officially provided by a company in Dubai, the alleged administration in Tiraspol claims that it is a Russian loan. The Ukrainian transport operator said for Teleradio-Moldova that it is not participating in any delivery agreement to the Transnistrian region, but only transmits the gas flow to the Republic of Moldova.

The Government of the Republic of Moldova stated at the time that this is not an agreement with the Russian Federation, but a temporary solution allowed by the CSE decision, to prevent a humanitarian crisis in the region.

Experts warned that the current arrangement could perpetuate Russia's influence in the Transnistrian region.
