Ukrainian Prime Minister confirms that a Ukraine-European Union summit will take place in Kyiv

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal confirmed that a Ukraine-European Union summit will take place on Friday in Kyiv, a day after "intergovernmental consultations" between Kyiv and the European Commission that will take place "for the first time in the history of Ukraine", reports AFP.

According to Denis Smîgal, Thursday's talks and Friday's summit will allow "Europe to believe in Ukraine's victory", while "supporting rapid action towards EU accession. The Ukrainian Prime Minister said that the authorities in Kyiv want to create a detailed roadmap on how to travel the path of European integration as soon as possible". In particular, he cited access to the European economic market as "fundamentally important" for Kyiv, while Ukraine's economy has collapsed for a year.
