Minister of Education: Teachers from the Republic of Moldova involved in propaganda training in the Russian Federation

Recently, groups of teachers from various regions in the Republic of Moldova took part in training sessions organized by the "Evrazia" organization in the Russian Federation. The European Union has imposed sanctions on this organization due to its involvement in destabilizing activities. Education Minister Dan Perciun stated on social media that these training sessions are acts of indoctrination that promote Kremlin propaganda, including false narratives about the war in Ukraine and historical revisionism. The minister warned that participating in such programs could result in sanctions, including the potential revocation of teaching credentials.

"Such actions are part of a hybrid war directed against the Republic of Moldova, where various social groups are infused with messages that are hostile to our national interests and are then encouraged to spread these messages in their communities," stated the minister.

The official also highlighted that, in some instances, these trips occurred with the direct involvement of local authorities. In this context, the ministry has informed all educational institutions that it is strictly prohibited to conduct militaristic, chauvinistic, or nationalist-extremist propaganda activities within their premises, as well as any activities that promote interethnic hate speech or revisionist attitudes.

Furthermore, the minister reiterated that educational institutions, teaching staff, and management personnel are strictly forbidden from participating in activities, projects, or programs organized by entities that threaten the independence and security of the Republic of Moldova or promote violence, hatred, or discrimination.

“These activities are illegal and will be sanctioned according to the provisions of point 19 of the Code of Ethics, including the withdrawal of teaching and managerial ranks as stipulated in point 53 of the Regulation on the certification of teachers in general and vocational-technical education, as well as within territorial structures of psycho-pedagogical assistance,” the minister stated.

In a comment to Teleradio-Moldova, IGP press officer Diana Fetco mentioned that the General Police Inspectorate had not received a notification from the Ministry but that the police were aware of this information through actions carried out by INI officers. She also noted that the police document the actions of individuals "without regard to their position or professional status."

Previously, law enforcement officials announced that several priests and citizens from the Republic of Moldova participated in pilgrimages organized in Russia, Serbia, and Jerusalem over recent months, some of which were funded by the "Eurasia" organization.

The "Eurasia" organization is a Russian non-governmental entity that faced sanctions in 2024 and 2025 from the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom. According to international authorities, it was involved in promoting Russian propaganda, including to minors, channelling funds from Russia and from Ilan Shor to Gagauzia, organising the transportation of young Moldovans to Russia for pro-Kremlin indoctrination, and engaging in voter bribery schemes.
