Decision to ban electricity exports from Moldova has been cancelled
At its meeting today, the Board of Directors of the Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) lifted the decision on the ban on electricity exports from Moldova during the state of alert on the electricity market.
The institution argues that Energocom S.A. has secured the necessary quantities of electricity by signing an electricity purchase contract with the Cuciurgan power plant, as well as contracts with Romanian suppliers to cover the electricity demand of universal and last resort service providers and system operators.
The electricity ban was imposed on 15 October last year, following Ukraine's suspension of electricity exports to the EU and the Republic of Moldova due to Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure. At that time the Republic of Moldova imported 30% of its total electricity consumption from Ukraine.
