Odessa is left without power. What is the cause
A second major accident occurred this morning at the Ukrenergo substation, causing Odessa and part of the region to lose power. Heavy generators from the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy and a gas turbine power plant from the US are being brought in to restore critical infrastructure and restore electricity to a residential complex, Ukrinform reports.

"Now the main focus is on reviving critical infrastructure and multi-apartment buildings whose heating depends on electricity supply. We have given instructions to bring to Odessa all available powerful generators to the Ministry of Energy within a day. Also, a gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 25 MW, supplied by our US partners, should be transported to the city," Shmyhal said.
The Prime Minister added that he had ordered the Foreign Ministry at an extraordinary cabinet meeting to call on Turkey for additional support in the form of power plant ships.
"Today in Odessa there was a technological accident at one of the high-voltage power stations, damaged repeatedly by Russian attacks. Emergency shutdowns in Odessa and nearby areas have been imposed. The situation remains difficult, the extent of the accident is significant, it is impossible to restore power supply quickly, especially for critical infrastructure," Shmyhal wrote.
As Ukrinform reported on 3 February, due to a large-scale accident at a substation, three districts of Odessa and part of the region lost electricity.
