Putin offers Middle East Mediation, Trump Pushes Ukraine

US President Donald Trump stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin proposed to mediate the Middle East conflict, but Trump reportedly advised him to resolve the war in Ukraine first.
The American leader made the remarks to journalists on Wednesday outside the White House.
The American President said he spoke with Vladimir Putin the day before. It's noteworthy that there were no official announcements about such a conversation on the preceding day, but a discussion on June 14 was reported, as reported by European Pravda.
According to Trump, Putin had offered his support for mediating the conflict between Israel and Iran.
“I spoke with him yesterday, and he told me... In fact, he offered to help mediate. I responded: 'Do me a favor – handle mediation in your own backyard first...' I told him: 'Vladimir, let's address mediation in Russia first (referring to the Russian-Ukrainian war – ed. note). And then you can take care of that (the Middle East – ed. note) later,'” Trump recounted.
At the same time, he expressed his conviction that the war in Ukraine "can also be resolved."
It's noteworthy that Trump had previously stated he was "open" to a possible mediation by the Kremlin leader in the Israel-Iran conflict, adding that Putin "is ready" for this role.
It's worth recalling that on June 14, US President Donald Trump had another unannounced phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Putin's advisor, Yuri Ushakov, the discussion generally focused on the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran and the war in Ukraine.
According to Ushakov, the conversation lasted approximately 50 minutes and was "productive." Putin condemned Israel's military operation against Iran, while Trump described the situation in the Middle East as "very concerning" but praised Israel's strikes on Iran as effective.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, Ushakov stated that Trump confirmed his interest in a swift end to the conflict, and Putin told the American president about recent prisoner exchanges between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. Putin also assured Trump that Russia is prepared to continue "negotiations" with Ukraine after June 22.
