Minister of Labour and Social Protection: "Help at the counter" programme will be available next cold season
The authorities plan to provide compensation for the costs of natural gas, heat and electricity during the next cold season, Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu told N4.
"If the prices for gas, electricity, and heating increase, we will keep having a compensation program. Now its parameters will depend upon the tariffs and abilities of the Ministry. We will communicate this then, but we have this intention, including by the end of the year we will have this program", said Alexei Buzu.
The Minister of Labour and Social Protection also said that during the next cold season Moldovans will no longer need to register on the government website compensatii.gov.md.
Through the "Help with the metre" programme, the Moldovan government is helping citizens to pay their gas, heat and electricity bills, partially compensating for the increase in energy tariffs. In late November 2022, the vulnerability grades were announced and the first bills with compensated tariffs reached consumers in December. The programme has already been tweaked several times, with changes to the vulnerability categories. The total budget of the project is almost 5 billion lei.
