MEPs: The Republic of Moldova must be helped to face the challenges in the context of the war in Ukraine
The Republic of Moldova must be helped to face the challenges it faces in the context of the war in Ukraine. The European Union must be aware that there are risks and threats, several MEPs declared during the plenary session of the European Legislative with the participation of representatives of the European Council and the European Commission.
During the plenary session of the European Parliament, the situation in Ukraine was discussed one year after the start of the war started by the Russian Federation. Several MEPs reiterated that the EU together with NATO and other partners must continue their support for Ukraine. The deputy from Poland Andrejz Halicki mentioned that in this context the Republic of Moldova must also be supported. "Ukrainians are fighting for us, for the EU, it's a duty we have towards them. Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, please, let's also pay attention to the Republic of Moldova, a country that is suffering a lot because of the war and is in great need of our support", reads the message of deputy Andrejz Halicki. Romanian MP Maria Grapini mentioned that the EU must pay more attention to the Republic of Moldova, which is already in Vladimir Putin's sights. Thus, the EU and NATO must join their efforts to defend Ukraine's neighbors. "We keep in touch as the EU and NATO, because the Republic of Moldova is now supervised by Putin and we must give importance to Moldova as well. My country is on the border with Ukraine, Romania helped Ukraine, the EU helped the citizens there, but we have to find a way to stop this disaster", said Maria Grapinni.
