According to the Police, the new equipment is “an innovative technological tool that contributes to the modernization of crime scene documentation.” The high-precision laser scanner enables accurate rendering of investigated spaces, regardless of their complexity.

Police representatives explain that the technology allows investigators to create complete virtual reconstructions of crime scenes, ensuring rapid and precise capture of all relevant details. The collected data can subsequently be analyzed and used in judicial proceedings.

The use of the 3D scanner also significantly reduces the risk of human error and improves evidence management. As noted in a press release, the equipment ensures greater accuracy and efficiency throughout the investigative process.

The technology was acquired through the Polish Aid external assistance program, as part of the international project “Modern methods of documenting the inspection of disaster or terrorist attack sites using 3D laser scanners.” The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and implemented by the Polish Police, headquartered in Warsaw.

The official launch took place during a meeting between the leadership of the National Police of the Republic of Moldova and the Polish Police, marking a new stage in bilateral cooperation in security and forensic investigations.

Authorities stress that the project strengthens the strategic partnership between Moldova and Poland and enhances national capabilities to combat organized crime. In the period ahead, the General Inspectorate of Police plans to expand the use of advanced technologies as part of its modernization efforts and alignment with European standards.
