Chisinau secures technical clearance for all six EU negotiation blocks

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, announced on February 4 that Moldova expects to receive the technical benchmarks for its final three negotiation clusters within the coming weeks.
During a parliamentary committee session, Gherasimov outlined the roadmap for the nation's final stages of EU accession talks. The Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU is expected to deliver the specific requirements shortly.
The European Commission will subsequently launch a comprehensive monitoring phase. This process will evaluate Moldova’s progress in transposing and implementing the EU Acquis across every individual chapter.
"The final stage involves closing the negotiations based on our readiness," Gherasimov stated. "This leads to the signing of the Accession Treaty, its ratification, and finally, full membership."
The announcement follows significant momentum gained in late 2025. Following the General Affairs Council on December 16, the Danish Presidency confirmed that all six negotiation clusters are technically ready for official opening.
While the formal opening of these clusters requires unanimous political approval from member states, EU officials have reaffirmed that Moldova already meets the necessary technical criteria to advance.
In late 2025, Chisinau received the "green light" for technical negotiations on the first three clusters. These foundational blocks cover fundamental values, the internal market, and foreign policy.
Moldovan authorities remain focused on maintaining the pace of reforms. Efforts are currently concentrated on the judiciary and anti-corruption measures to consolidate the technical progress achieved so far.
